Increase comfort and duration of Tummy Time
6 weeks to pre-crawling: In these classes we work with the vestibular system exploring weight and balance in an intimate connection with the caregiver attending class with the baby. Tummy time, massage, auditory, and visual stimulation are presented in a gentle and supportive way through song, music, exercises, and play. The emphasis is on gently welcoming the baby into the physical world of the body and its growing spine, which will set up the structure for all other developmental patterns, standing upright, as well as speech. The activities support healthy growth, digestion, and sleep. Encouraging heart coherence is an emphasis throughout class for all participants. Each session includes a special baby massage and bodywork class.
Crawling to standing: These classes build upon the work of the classes prior adding in more challenging props to further develop a sense of balance as well as emphasizing the breath. Locomotion, rhythm, beat, and socialization are introduced in activates that use a variety of props to support the process. Vestibular work is presented in tandem exercises with the caregiver as well as with activities utilizing big balls. Yoga poses such as forward bends, backbends, side bends, and twists are introduced as well. Creepers are welcome to attend this class to help them move toward balancing on all fours and ready themselves for crawling.
Standing to Walking: Continuing to build upon the developmental patterns we work with more articulated physical exercises and include more work with balance, falling, standing, and increased body and spatial awareness. Language is encouraged through activities that emphasize basic vocal sounds, song, and rhythmic games. Children socialize more with one another and gain independence from the caregivers in playful activities that encourage cognitive thinking and spatial awareness. Yoga work begins to include supported balancing poses.

This program incorporates the work of the HUG program as well as others in pre and perinatal psychology and health. It teaches parents to be confident and feel successful in their interactions with their babies.
All partipants receive a copy of the book CALMS, & a help guide. Follow up consultations are available as well.
THE HUG (Help, Understanding, & Guidance for Young Families): HUG Your Baby believes that parents want to be good moms and dads! We also know that caring and confident parents raise capable and happy children. Based on child development and medical literature, HUG Your Baby’s trainings and resources help parents (and the professionals who care for them) understand a baby’s body language in order to prevent and solve problems around eating, sleeping, crying, and parent-child interaction and bonding.
The HUG is based on the medical and child development literature of Drs. T. B. Brazelton, M. & P. Klaus, M. Lamb, M. & H. Papousek, B. Howard, R. Sturner and others.
PRENATAL PARENTING WORKSHOP/SERIES:
For adults trying to become pregnant or expecting. This class is geared to conceptions of all kinds as well as adoption. The program could be a one long presentation, a series that builds upon one week after the other, or a series that hits certain topics via the showing of a film or experience of an activity that supports the theme of the week. The goal is to help people hoping to have children become clear in their approach, direction, and in making contact with their parenting objectives and wishes. This serves to create a strong foundation, create a” Parental Compass,” and to help give the child a strong beginning in body, mind, heart, and sprit. The latter is especially helpful to babies who might be adopted or conceived using Assisted Reproductive Technologies and/or Surrogacy where there are a number of influences and often a highly clinical medical atmosphere. The goal is to truly WELOME BABY! Doing this influences birth outcome, bonding, alertness, social & emotional growth, nervous system regulation, cognitive learning abilities, and emotional learning.
Baby Massage and Yoga classes are also available in private format for small groups in a 90″ format.
